I have a question for you, are your decision driven by pleasure or by purpose?

Most people who are stuck in the wagon of the rat race are driven by pleasure. And I know that because I used to be the same way.

A few years ago I felt so unfulfilled and unexcited about my job, my life and the way it was going that the only thing I’d look forward to was the little pleasures of the day. Like my double double Tim Hortons coffee in the morning and my Big Mac sandwich for lunch.

Because my decisions were all for pleasure, I would just get temporary or short term gains. And that doesn’t help to achieve long term goals, it keeps you stuck or worst, push you backward.

You might be trying to get lean and fit, but when you make decisions based on the pleasure you’ll continue caving in for the extra-large soft drinks, cheeses burgers, and fries.

You might be trying to create financial abundance, but if you’re making decisions based on pleasure you’ll spend all your money buying useless things that collect dust on the shelf.

You might be trying to achieve your greatest potential, but making decisions on pleasure you’ll continue to seek comfort, avoid challenges and stick to an unproductive routine.

You might be looking for the best partner to experience life with, and making decisions on pleasure you’ll move from one relationship to another hoping the next one will be better.

So here’s the solution, start making decisions based on purpose.

Having a purpose for each area of your life will enable you to make decisions that align with that instead of the short term pleasure.

It’s delayed gratification, and it will be amplified when you achieve your goals over and over again. This is far more satisfying than the momentary pleasure you get from constantly seeking it.

By visualizing every morning your ideal body, bank account, state of being, relationships and any other goals, you will go about your day making purpose-based decisions.

Start becoming aware of what your decisions are based on and change this simple habit, you will quickly notice how impactful it will be in your life and finally get you unstuck.

Be purposeful and watch what happens.
